A self-proclaimed superfan of the band Coldplay says she has “no regrets” about attending all three of the group’s performances at Auckland’s Eden Park last week.
Rebecca Martin told Breakfast it was the “best concert ever”, and she had now seen the band perform live 11 times across the globe including in London, Melbourne and Perth.
“You get a different perspective, so each time I was sitting in a different location.
“You just get to see so many different things going on the stage, you pick up a little bit each time… can’t get enough of it.
“I bought my first CD in fourth form, way back then and I’ve been a bit of a Coldplay tragic ever since then,” she laughed.
She said the band was “pretty well practised now”, having played their 175th show of the Music of the Spheres World Tour in Auckland on Friday night.
She said one of the band’s biggest draws was having “something for everyone”.
“So there were people of all ages and backgrounds. My parents, children, teenagers, fellow millennials as well.”
Secondly, she praised “the spectacle of it”.
“It’s an entire show, with fireworks, lights, graphics and everything.”
Martin said Coldplay was the “soundtrack to my life” and was crossing her fingers for more albums from her all-time favourite band.
“When you hear some of the songs, they take you back to a different time and place and bring back such good memories. So I just can’t get enough of it.
“[Lead singer] Chris [Martin] said something on stage about coming back to New Zealand… so I’m hoping for a few more tours yet.”
