A man has been arrested after the alleged assault of a woman at a pro-Palestinian rally in Auckland on Wednesday.
The arrest comes after a video posted to social media showed a man confronting a group of protesters on Omahu Rd in Remuera at around 5.30pm that day.
A protester can be heard saying: “You’re killing f***ing children!” to which a man replied: “We’ll kill all of them”. He then noticed the camera and appeared to swing a pole at the protester, knocking the phone out of her hands.
Police said the woman suffered a small laceration.
Auckland City East Area Commander Inspector Jim Wilson said today a 48-year-old man had been arrested overnight.
He has been charged with injures with reckless disregard. He is due to appear in the Auckland District Court next Friday.
Wilson said police aren’t seeking anyone else in relation to the assault.
