Police are appealing for information after a dog walker was struck and seriously injured by a vehicle in Levin over the weekend.

Police were called following a report a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle on Hitherlea East Rd at around 5.10pm on Sunday.

The woman had been walking a white American bulldog at the time of the incident.

The canine was found on Sorensons Rd on Monday.

“It is likely that the vehicle that struck the pedestrian will have damage to either the front or driver’s side,” police said.

Anyone with CCTV footage, or who witnessed a woman walking a dog around Sorensons Rd or Heatherlea East Rd between 4pm and 5.30pm, has been asked to contact police on 105.

Members of the public who saw a vehicle or was in one in the surrounding areas at the time of the incident have also been asked to get in touch.
