A 15-year-old boy has been charged with manslaughter over a fatal two-vehicle crash in Canterbury last year.
Christchurch woman Sandra Loveday, 60, died at the scene on Old West Coast Rd in Canterbury’s West Melton on August 7.
Another person was taken to Christchurch Hospital in a critical condition.
The boy facing charges is scheduled to appear in Christchurch Youth Court today.
“He has name suppression and as the matter is before the court, police are unable to provide further information at this time,” a police spokesperson said.
Stuff reports the boy’s car “apparently” crossed the centre line and hit Loveday’s vehicle head-on.
“Police would like to extend our condolences to her family and friends,” a spokesperson said at the time of the crash.
Friends described Loveday to Stuff as a “vivacious”, “wonderful” and “kind” person.
